My LASIK Eye Surgery Story.

I have waited years for me to finally sit down and write this post - to say in this safe place that I finally did it.

And I really did.

It was such a long journey to get to this destination - and there were two main reasons for it.

First was the fact that it is very expensive - like five-figures expensive and it would take me so long to save that kind of money because I have zero discipline whatsoever. The second was that I became pregnant very quickly after getting married (intended to of course) and then got pregnant again (very quickly too) with the second baby before Alex even turned one. Then, with breastfeeding and all, it was on hold for longer than I had wanted to.

My piggy bank has not grown a lot also actually but it was enough for me to proceed with it because Optimax Penang has zero interest installments heh.

I was mentally ready to get my vision corrected and to not rely on contact lenses and glasses anymore because, for too many years, I have been really dependent on them.

Enough is enough. Hah.

I have gathered enough information from the internet and friends to know the can-dos and cannot-dos and what to do before scheduling an appointment.

Ten days before I plan to call Optimax Penang to schedule an appointment, I had already gotten rid of (kept in the drawer) my monthly reusable contact lens and was wearing glasses only - 24/7. It was uncomfortable and my vision was not super clear.

But of course, I had to endure it heh - worth it la, please.

On the day of the appointment, Vanessa went with me because I was told that I would not be able to drive after the detailed eye checking and testing. The tests were all painless. For the final eye examination, they had to dilate my eyes (sounds like giving birth right? - check dilation and all heh) so that my pupils will be bigger and they will be able to check thoroughly the condition of my optic nerve and retina.

This is also painless. They put some drops onto both my eyes and waited for like 15-minutes and I was ready to go through one last check. One thing I hate most about this pupil dilation is that my vision turned super blur and I had to see everything very near - like I could not see my phone screen unless it is right in front of my eyes and I have to remove my glasses - not convenient at all.

That is why they asked for someone to get you home because there is absolutely no way you can drive home after having your eyes dilated. No way at all. Please don't gau-gau try all. Cannot means cannot liau.

After all the eye examinations are done, I went into the office with the Optometrist (mine was Yeong) and he explained everything he found from the tests and he also went through with me the three Lasik Eye Surgery there is in Optimax Penang - then he would recommend which one he thinks its best for my eyes.

FYI - not everyone can get their vision corrected via Lasik eye surgery okay. If your cornea is too thin, then you are not able to ever get your vision corrected via Lasik. Maybe got other kinds of 'treatment' but I was not told because my cornea is quite thick.

And I know you surely want to know what can cause your cornea to get thinner - the answer is nothing. It's genetic. You are either born with a thin cornea or a thick one. Simple simple.

The normal range for cornea thickness should range from 470 microns to 630 microns. Mine was at 580 (left eye) and 583 microns (right eye). Phew. Yeong also mentioned that the cornea cannot be too thin after the procedure and mine would be left at about 463 microns (for both eyes) after the Lasik surgery so it is all still good.

I was genuinely afraid that my corneas would be too thin for the procedure - because then I would be for real stuck with glasses and contact lenses my whole life, but thankful that it was not the case.

Also, if your cornea is funny-shaped like not full healthy kind, they will also not proceed with any Lasik treatment for you. Hence, it is very important for you to do an eye examination before getting your hopes too high.

Once Yeong shared with me the good news - he proceeds to explain the 3 Lasik procedures of which I will summarize (sort of) below.

A) CUSTOMIZED FEMTO-LASIK
  • Also known as Customized All Lased LASIK.
  • A Femtosecond laser is used to create a flap on the cornea.
  • The flap will then be lifted up to expose the inner layers of the cornea.
  • Another laser called Excimer laser will be used to re-shape the inner layers on the cornea (changing the eye's power).
  • Then, the flap will be placed back down again and close the cornea.
  • Recovery time is 1-3 days for the vision to be fully restored.
  • Cost - RM 4,588 per eye.

B) ADVANCED SURFACE ABLATION (ASA)

  • No corneal flap creation is needed.
  • The top layer of the cornea (called Epithelium) will be removed.
  • The Excimer laser is used to re-shape the inner layers of the cornea.
  • After the procedure, you are required to wear a bandage contact lens for a month.
  • This procedure is recommended for people with thin corneas.
  • Recovery time is 1 month.
  • Cost - RM4,588 per eye.

C) ReLex SMILE

  • A less invasive way to treat short-sightedness and astigmatism.
  • No corneal flap is required.
  • The Femtosecond laser is used to create a lenticule in the inner layers of the cornea and penetrate through without any cutting involved.
  • A small micro-incision (4mm) is created on the side.
  • The lenticule earlier will then be removed through the micro-incision and vision will then be corrected.
  • Recovery time is 1-3 days.
  • Cost - RM6,588 per eye or RM6,888 per eye (depending on which doctor you choose)
So, with the 3 procedures shared, I obviously was going to choose the less invasive and fastest recovery time.

I mean hello, I've got 2 young babies and they are not going to allow me to rest my eyes whatsoever. They are a pair of balekos you know. Hah. I love it though.

So yeah, I chose the ReLex SMILE LASIK procedure because it is one the latest technology and since these are my eyes we talking about, surely I was going to choose the more experienced doctor to handle the entire procedure - but he was not available that week.

I made the appointment to go through the LASIK surgery with Yeong on that day itself and he confirmed the appointment with me a few hours later via WhatsApp.

I had wanted to do it on that weekend itself but I had a work duty that I could not get out of, so had to apply for annual leave, no choice.

We made some arrangements for the kids to have sleepovers at their grandparents' and cousins' house for 2-nights because we figured that I could use a full-8-hours-rest for a night without them first - to make sure that I heal properly.

Adrian was very paranoid about the whole healing process because he was just so afraid for me. Heh. It was cute (at first) then we got too intense because he would scold me every time I use the phone for one second. Hah.

Anyways, so that was the pre-LASIK eye examination that everyone had to go through and it took about 2-hours or so.

After the examination, I still had to continue wearing my glasses till the day of surgery but one more week only so that's fine la.

We drove down to KL on Monday night (after work), and went to Optimax TTDI on Tuesday morning - apparently it is the only Optimax in KL that can do this ReLex SMILE procedure. I was accompanied by my husband of course, who was working there in the waiting area.

After doing another round of some eye tests there to confirm the earlier tests, I was asked to make the payment first - which made sense because later people do already, refuse to pay how.

I wrote down (earlier) my cousin's name in the "How do you know about us" because I had initially thought she did the LASIK procedure with Optimax but later found out that she went to Sunway Hospital and Optimax gave a discount of RM100 per eye - which I didn't even know got such promo! I guess this means Optimax KL did not check haha.

I was then ushered into another waiting area with a man and another woman who was waiting in line to go through ReLex SMILE surgery. I was the second one in line.

In the fancier-waiting-lounge, we were asked to change our clothes into a surgery gown and we were also briefed about the entire procedure by our doctor (Doctor Chuah Kay Leong).

Before entering this lounge, I was getting more scared but after talking to Doctor Chuah, I was a lot more relaxed because he was telling us every single step that was going to take place. He was very detailed so there were no surprises at all.

After that, they put some numbing drops into our eyes and we continued waiting for our turns to go into the Procedure Room.

When it was my turn, I had to remove my glasses and someone held my hand as we walked into the room. From my 700-power of vision, I saw a massive white machine and then, I was asked to lie down (looked like an MRI machine that we see in movies) - then before Doctor Chuah does anything, he would say them.

After what seems like 20-seconds, the machine then moves me in another direction and the top machine would move down on me (I think) and closes up to my right eye. The machine will then say, "Suction on!" and I just had to look at the green dot in that machine.

Within 26-seconds, the machine said, "Suction off!" and it was done deal.

Doctor Chuah then did something on my left eye and the same thing goes. 26-seconds later, my left eye also done deal. It was so fast I could not believe it.

The most shocking thing about this entire experience is I felt no pain at all. ZERO PAIN. ZERO DISCOMFORT. It was that easy and that comfortable. Don't know I scared for what also earlier.

It is nothing like what you watched in Final Destination movie la okay. I know what you were thinking! Hah. Cos my husband was terrified for me - he kept referencing the movie.

My vision was somewhat very blurred still but I could make up of things around me. I went into the changing room to change back into my clothes and went out.

I thought I was going to have a problem recognizing Adrian at the common waiting area but surprisingly I could see but it was a blur.

We left the place, bought lunch and I slept in the entire afternoon.

We went back to Optimax TTDI for a post-LASIK surgery check-up and that was it.

The other post-surgery check-ups were all done in Optimax Penang at no extra costs.

Ohh - Optimax also offered a lifelong warranty if your power comes back. I guess if the thickness of your cornea is still able to go through a LASIK procedure, then it would be okay but if not, then I don't know what's next. Haha.

So far, I went for 3 check-ups already and did not pay for any of them. So far so good.

It has been a month and my vision now is restored from 700 to 25 in each eye. My vision so clear I love it, and not having to rely on glasses/contact lenses anymore - so best, please.

So, how much does it really costs to get your vision corrected with the ReLex SMILE LASIK procedure?

I (Adrian) paid a total of RM12,976. The original price was RM13,176 (RM6,588 per eye) but got an RM200 discount because of the "referral".

Adrian offered to pay the whole thing as my in-advance-birthday gift so that was a surprise - a very very nice surprise. Heh. Thank you, baby boy.

A lot of you reached out to me after knowing about my LASIK experience and I realized that MANY of you had wanted to do it also but never got enough courage to do it, and/or unsure if it is worth spending that money.

I am here to tell you that if you have been dependent on visual aid (like glasses or contact lenses) for a very long time and it' pain in the behind, it will be worth every penny you spend on. We are talking about many many years of not depending on visual aids. Longer years if you take care of your eyes and provide your eyes with the vitamins it needs.

Ever since my eye examination with Optimax, I am suddenly awaken to the fact that if we do not take care of our eyes now, it will be too late when we realized we had to and there will nothing we can do anymore when it is too late.

I don't know about you, but vision is one of the most important thing to me.

So, I started taking Astaxanthin and trying Isotonix Vizion Powder. If you spend most of your working time looking at a screen, you should start taking supplements that takes care of your eyes - seriously.

Adrian looks at the screen (laptop and phone) most of his waking time so I'm making him take these vitamins too. For him, this is more important that taking Calcium. Heh.

So yes, if you are hesitant about going for LASIK or not, I 100% feel that you should - but that's just me - but again, it is life-changing.

Oh, and before you go - here's the video of my entire LASIK experience. I filmed as much as I can. Enjoy!

Till next time, bye now.

My Eyebrow Embroidery Story.

So, I finally did it.

After years of thinking and almost-doing it, I finally did it.

I have tried quite a number of things in regards to my face (not cosmetic surgery la okay) because I'm vain like that. Heh.

It all began after I have given birth to Alex about 2 years ago. It was then when my eyebrow hair started falling. I know - what a tragic story really. Dahlah, hair started falling and I have obvious bald spots (back then), I had to also deal with the fact that my eyebrows were balding too!

It was such a difficult thing to accept because how often do you hear women say that their eyebrows were balding? I didn't even know such a thing exists!

If you are reading this and your eyebrows were balding, please message me because then I know I'm not alone in this and I am not crazy! Hah.

If you see the photo above, I was heavily pregnant with Sofia and Adrian took a photo of us chilling on the bed with no makeup at all on my face. WHERE DID MY EYEBROWS GO!?

I used to have good eyebrows okay - good means like no need to use eyebrow makeup at all. Yes, in case you were wondering, I made him delete that IG story and gave him a quick intense session on why he should check his photos/videos before posting them online because his wife is vain la okay.

Anyway, so when your hormones go haywire, your body reacts funnily. This - I learned because both pregnancies acted differently.

The biggest reason why I did not go ahead and do it earlier is that Adrian begged me not to do it! Yeah - begged.

He was so determined to make sure I don't proceed with the eyebrow embroidery because he did not want me to look like some people with bad eyebrows embroidery experience in terms of how it made them looked worse. He was really sure that I will make my eyebrows looked worse if I go for it.

His reasons were legit and he actually did put that doubt in me hence me not going for it - even though I know it could save me a lot of time and effort and money. I was spending so much time watching Youtube videos and practicing and I've had good days and bad days. Some days, I had to rush drawing the eyebrows because the kids were restless.

I've had days when I feel like my eyebrows look so bad I just kept avoiding meeting people. It's bad for my confidence and I always believe that confidence is key. Hah.

But after adapting to life with 2 kids for about 6-months, I decided that there is no time for me to slowly do eyebrows all in the morning.

On weekdays, not only do we need to get ourselves ready for work, but we also had to bathe both kids and feed them milk (mostly Sofia) and by the time the kids are settled, I usually have only 5-minutes to myself to do all my finishing touches.

That also, sometimes Alex will not leave me alone at my makeup table. He either wants to be carried or he wants to hold everything I used - if not he makes a big fuss and there goes our peaceful start to the day. Then again, who am I kidding? With two kids at home, no such thing as the peaceful morning. Hah. But I love it! Just not when I need to draw my brows.

So, I decided enough is enough and it is time to get the brows done. It's like if I never try, I will keep asking myself what if.

I told Adrian about it but he was still as keen and tried to persuade me. Since I didn't want to be influenced by him anymore, I took leave on a weekday and went for it - yes, without telling him. Hah.

I found out about Des Aesthetic (Prima Tanjung) when I was searching for an eyelash lift treatment which I did and I found that the staff was very friendly and informative and gentle. I remembered being in good hands. So, I recommended to my mom and she went and did her eyebrows and she loved it!

You know how eyebrow embroidery used to be painful and right after you do it, the colors are very obvious and when you walk out of the beauty salon, people will instantly know that you just did your brows. Not only that, I think because of the way people used to "tattoo" the brows, after years, but it will also leave like a permanent red mark which was what happened to my mom.

She had this red mark on her brows that are permanent and when we consulted Des Aesthetic, they knew instantly what needed to be done. There are 2 types of eyebrow embroidery processes and they recommended the one suitable for my mom so that the red mark could be covered.

Long story short, my mom came home with new and normal looking eyebrows and it didn't even look like she had just get it done hours before. I was super impressed.

Then, I knew I had to get it done too, and only with the best I know - with Des Aesthetic!

The first thing they did was applying some numbing cream on both brows - for about 20 minutes (I think). Then, Evonne (the lady who took care of me so well), shaved and drew the brows for me. She did 2-kinds and asked for my choice but I ended up asking her to choose for me because she's a pro. FYI - her eyebrows were so on point so, at that time, I legit felt so accomplished - like I know already she is going to do a good job.

After that, I went to the room and lied down and I was afraid that it may hurt because if not why they need to put numbing cream right? It did not hurt la, please. Can only feel very minimal sharp pain but not painful at all - can fall asleep also.

The entire process was very relaxing and pampering.

Right after the process, a cool gel is put on top of the brows to cool the swelling. I had a bit of swelling because my skin is quite dry.

It was like a 2-hours process and when I went home, no one could tell that I had just done my brows. Adrian himself also did not realize when he came to fetch us home. It was only when I stared at him and smiled a long time then only he was like, "YOU DID YOUR EYEBROWS?"

He was impressed because it looked os natural that he thought I drew them.

The next day, the eyebrows looked darker but no more swelling, and over the next few days, it peeled and then it became a lot lighter. A bit too light but natural for sure.

No need to worry my eyebrows disappearing when I go swimming or when I accidentally scratched my eyebrows and when I sweat.

It is so convenient please - life-changing too because I did not have to spend so much time in front of my vanity desk. Ohh if only I did this earlier. But never too late.

So for those of you also thinking and going back and forth with yourself to whether you should go for it, my advice is GO FOR IT.

I paid RM650 and it comes with a one-time free touch up and one facial treatment.

Another concern Adrian has after this eyebrow embroidery was if I need to like go and touch-up every month or something because it's another "monthly" commitment right?

The thing is I most likely will not go for any touch-up every few months because now that I have the "perfect" eyebrow shape/outline of it, I can now just use an eyebrow pencil and fill it up. I don't have to worry if one side is longer or thicker.

No regrets whatsoever at all going for this eyebrow embroidery.

Thank you Evonne for making me have eyebrows-confidence again!

Till next time, bye now.

My Eyelash Lift Story.

Before I go on about this experience, if you must know, I have had some other experiences before with beauty related things because seriously, every girl wants to look good (so does every boy nowadays) and feel good so if it is affordable and not dangerous - why not.

Anyways, here are some of the other stories if you may be interested to read up.

I never knew how long short my eyelashes were until I decided to try lifting them. Heh. This is how it goes actually.

I was scrolling through Fave for cheap-cheap full body massages because my back is starting to ache again and the last time I went for a full body massage, the ache disappeared. But obviously I got sidetracked because I ended up with a Keratin Lash Lift voucher, instead of massage related voucher.

By the way, Fave can be so addictive. It's like before you know it, you have so many vouchers bought and stored. Heh.

There is one thing I always do first before I purchase in Fave, and that is I will call up to the shop and make appointment first because my time is very limited (with a job and two kids whatsoever) so if they can cater me with my date/time slot, then I will go ahead and purchase. If not, then - it's onto the next potential voucher. Hah.

If you have read on my experience with eyelash extension, you will know that I am really not a big fan of it. It's expensive and real lashes drop alongside with the fake ones. But I wanted to achieve the same outcome that eyelash extensions give so I thought, "Hey! Let's try Lash Lift!"

So appointment made on my first annual leave of the year and I was truly excited. Come and think about it, I should have combo it with their RM58 (first trial) facial massage.

The whole process took about one and half hours and no, there is no pain at all - unless your pain tolerance is close to zero. Heh. Seriously no pain wan la this lash lifting procedure.

And yes, you will have to close your eyes the entire time. And yes, I fell asleep a few times. That was how smooth it went. Vivian, the beautician was really good and caring.

After Vivian greeted me and we talked for a little bit (before the start of lifting them lashes), she already said this, "Hmm, your lashes very short so may not see very obvious.."

In my head, I was in denial kuat-kuat.

Inside me, I was talking to self - Wait till if's lifted then you will see how long it actually is.

I truly felt and thought that the lash lift will reveal the truth of how long my lashes actually are. Joker me I know. I think I will call it positive thinking okay please.

Then, when it was done, I told her to help me take photo.

OH GOODNESS ME.

What are those?

Baby eyelashes is it?

Truly she was right - my eyelashes damn short and non-existent.

Of course she went on and introduced and suggested me to use eyelash serum to let it grow longer. Since I haven't done enough research and read on eyelash serum, I did not impulse buy.

She was very honest when she said that there is actually no point for me to do this eyelash lift treatment again if my eyelashes doesn't grow because really waste money. Needless to say, I trust her la of course. Now no budget to buy eyelash serum all - unless you guys have tried and confirmed that it works. Then I will buy. Heh.

So, I guess that is all for my eyelash lift story because it's so short there is nothing else to say.

I spent more time in the shop (Des Aesthetic Salon at Prima Tanjung) and asked her on eyebrow embroidery procedures because I really want to get it done.

You know how it is very normal for mothers who have just given birth to lose hair? Well, it's the same for me except the hair that I lose is not for my head, they are from my eyebrows. It's just so weird. I used to never need to draw them eyebrows wan but ever since I gave birth to Alex (and now Sofia), my eyebrows are slowly disappearing from my face it's not even funny.

Every morning, I had to like wake up earlier because it takes so long for me to draw my eyebrows and some more it is never consistent wan. So stressful with this. Hah.

But I wanted a procedure where I don't have to leave the salon looking like a fool (heh) - with a very darkened eyebrows and takes days for it to fade la and all. I wanted an immediate natural looking eyebrows where I can actually like go shopping right after the treatment.

And from the photos that Vivian showed me, I was impressed and ready to go for it. The price also much cheaper than others that I have asked and researched on - RM650 - can last up to 2 years.

BUT I DIDN'T DO IT.

Because of breastfeeding - highly not recommended.

This story to be continued when breastfeeding journey ends.

Oh wells.

Till next time, bye now.

My Eyelash Extension Story.

I have always been a bit more conscious about my eyes compared to the other areas of my face. Wait, actually not true. I was more conscious of my teeth because they were all crooked and so-hard-to -keep-it-white-problem and now since, braces fixed it already, it is no longer a main concern. Go read this.

Then, it was the eyes. I am the laziest person on earth so when I found a long-term solution to no-need-to-draw-eyeliner-everyday, I obviously did it! Go read this too.

Then, the sister decided that she was going to try doing the eyelash extension and once she was hooked on it, I was slightly convinced that maybe I should go try it as well. I don't usually curl my lashes and use mascara so it wasn't like a must-try for me. And I've read on so many reviews that it would cost a bomb to the pocket because it's not like you do one time and it lasts you for 6-months or something.

In fact, I think if it lasts more than 3-weeks, that is super good already.

Anyways, there was a first-time-trial-promo at Essenzza at Tanjung Bungah (where my sister did hers) so I decided to give it a try. After all, it's less than RM100 right. So okaylah.

That morning, I asked mom to help me take the before photo so you can expect that this is no pro-photography okay. Like since when I ever post pro-photos if it were taken by myself or mom or husband or the elder sister. The youngest always take nice-pro-like-photos okay, but too bad she wasn't around that morning.

My eyelashes is not too bad okay. Hah. Not like it needs a lot of work also *self-denial* Anyways, do you know that it is so hard to take care of the lashes?

Cannot wash your face like how normal people do. Cannot rub your eyes. Cannot sleep sideways too relax-ly. It's insane.

To be honest, I was fairly impressed with how comfortable the whole process was. It took about one and half hours but it didn't feel that long.

For the trail price RM98, they were supposed to give 150 pieces only, but the lady added and those lashes on my eyes were about 200 + per eye.

They have a 6-months package where you pay about RM1,400 for endless visits for touch-ups or to put new ones. Too expensive for me please.

BEFORE & AFTER

I think this "hobby" only rich people can keep up la. It's really too costly, and so troublesome to take care. Not recommended for lazy people like me. Hah.

So, for me, as and when I need my lashes to be long, I shall just use the fake ones from Yubiso (RM8.40 for 5 pairs) because they looked like extension too. And no need to spend so much.

On normal days, I shall just curl them and put on the new Maybelline's mascara. Heh.

Speaking of eyes and all, I think it's time for me to go touch-up my eyeliner tattoo already. It's been like what? 2 years?

Till then, bye now.

SHILLS Purifying Peel-Off Mask.

So, recently when I was social-mediaing on Facebook, I kept seeing videos of different girls with black mask on their face everytime I scroll down.

Talk about effective video advertisement because I actually clicked on the video after many times seeing the shadow of it.

I got very curious and so I went on and purchased it. Yep.

When I clicked on the video, it auto-route me to a page called Nova Stuff and from there, more videos of this peel-off black mask.

The funny thing was when I was in the page, this is how the product looked like.

I didn't pay attention to it before but I did after I received the product few weeks later. There were few differences to what I saw online.

Photo above is from the internet and below is from yours truly.

  • Nova Stuff's website shows no brand whatsoever on the peel-off mask product. The one that came in was from SHILLS. They black-out the brand probably because they don't want people to go other websites to compare prices or in my case, if I knew that it was SHILLS, I would have gone to Lazada via ShopBack and get more discounts.
  • They even changed the small caption color below the word Black Mask.
I paid a total of RM90.13 for this tube of black mask that I believe works way better than all the other blackhead-removals that we've tried over the years. Heh.

In a way, I felt that Nova Stuff is like trying to 'con' people to buy things in their website, letting users think that this is one of their product and you can only get them at their website. Or maybe I was the only one who thought of it like that. Then again, why do you need to hide SHILLS on the tube?

I just don't get it.

Never again on Nova Stuff.

When it arrived, I got my sisters and mom to try it too. Good things must share right? I really wanted this to work because I just cannot find others and waste more money.

I felt that this was very expensive at first but all the videos and reviews made it so convincing and easy for me to click 'Confirm Purchase'.

And it worked!

It actually pulled out most (if not all) of the blackheads and whiteheads. I was amazed to be honest. I didn't think I would see so clearly all the heads on that black mask!

So geli but satisfying at the same time!

Thank you SHILLS. Now I have a favorite blackhead-removal mask - SHILLS Purifying Peel-Off Mask!

Can you just look at the photo above? Can you see all that tiny poles-lookalike!? It really works. Worth the RM90.13 okay. Not wasting money because it really works!

It's also very easy to apply. To make it more effective, you can wash your face and then take a warm towel and wipe around the area that you want to apply this SHILLS Purifying Peel-Off Mask so that the pores will slightly be opened.

Then, just apply on the desired area and wait for it to dry. Don't put too little though because it's very hard to see it and also maybe it won't be able to stick onto the heads. Yeah. Just be fairly generous with the gel.

I love this product and highly recommend it!

Till then, bye now.

My SkinnyMint Story.

Many weeks ago, I posted a photo on Instagram on this Teatox thing that I was going to try but I didn't. I postponed it till today. Reasons why so:

  • I wasn't feeling well at that time so it would defeat the whole purpose of me finding out whether it will work because I would be feeling so blehh.
  • I was going to have my period in 1 or 2 days time so the bloating on my tummy was probably due to the blood still inside me, waiting to gush out (TMI boys).
  • I was tied down with a lot of work stuffs and will most likely skip a tea or two because there isn't much space left in my memory drive.
  • Most important of all, I didn't feel like I wanted to experiment anything that time.
  • No mood.
So here I am now, feeling all ready to try this SkinnyMint experiment.

What made me go for this experiment?

I have always felt really bloated ever since I went through the abdomen surgery and I've always looked for ways to reduce them. Nothing really worked. I suspect that when the doctors took my intestines to clean them (appendix perforated and toxin infected the whole area), they did not do a good job in placing them like how God had placed them in the beginning, hence the bloating that is so annoying.

Or maybe those are just fats and I have a good excuse because of the intestines placement. Heh.

I don't know from where I saw the advertisement on a Black Friday that they were offering a bunch of discounts based on a wheel. All I did was click 'SPIN' and before I knew it, I got a 20% discount on any purchase.

Clever move really.

I went into the website and chose the poison.

That price, less 20% = RM75.92 (no shipping fee whatsoever).

The purpose of this tea is to help me (or you) to detox, with the tea that contains all natural ingredients. No nonsense in the mini bags okay.

The Started Pack comes with 14 mini bags of Morning Boost Tea (one every morning for 14 days) and 7 mini bags of Night Cleanse Tea (one every two days).

It's such an expensive tea so I obviously not gonna spend more than RM100 to test this out. I think RM75.92 is a good price to see if this works.

So here goes.

B E F O R E / D U R I N G

The first two days when I started on SkinnyMint tea, I went to toilet like ten thousand times I think and it's probably not solely because of the tea. I don't usually take in a lot of liquid so I guess by doing this, my kidney feels like it needs to be processed even more or something. Hah.

So, I am supposed to drink the Morning Boost Tea every morning during breakfast and the Night Cleanse Tea every two days.

One thing I realized about the Morning Boost Tea is that it opens up my appetite to eat breakfast. I usually don't eat anything in the morning, but somehow the tea makes me want to take at least a light breakfast, like a sandwich or something. So, I am guessing that it's good cos people always say breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

The Night Cleanse Tea is the bomb dei.

Here's why.

It's not as nice to drink, maybe because of the herbs combo. Everytime when I have to drink it, I went, "Ughh!" The next day, confirm sure got output.

The first few times, there were watery and then it slowly became more solid. The tummy aches first yes, that's how you know you need to do number 2.

A F T E R

It claims that it can reduce bloating, and I did realized that since I started on this tea experiment, I have been burping and farting a lot, so I guess it is doing what it says it will do. Reduce the bloating by getting rid of all the air inside. I have been struggling with air in my tummy since the surgery, so this tea actually makes me feel better.

In terms of detoxing, I don't think it's super effective. That's for me though. I know there are a lot of people who consumes a cup of coffee (minimum that is) every single day and not have any sleep-deprived effect or something, but for me, when I started taking the Morning Boost Tea everyday, I realized I have some minor trouble sleeping at night.

I really don't know if it is related.

Last year, I took a cup of green tea every single day and I had few days in a row of not getting any proper sleep. It was only when I stopped the green tea craze that I had good sleep again.

Also, I feel that my number 2 has been really hard and a pain (in the behinds!) to go through and I feel it's because I've been consuming too much tea. I feel only lah, no scientific evidence all.

So, I have since stopped the tea and I felt normal again, sort of.

And, I was really scared that I can only do number 2 whenever i have the Night Cleanse Tea. On my first week of trying it, I will only poop when I have the tea the night before. Now, I poop almost everyday without the help of Night Cleanse Tea.

It may work for others, but for me I think I will give it a pass. No more for me. So expensive some more. Heh. It was a good experiment nonetheless.

Now I know that no amount of tea or slimming pills (not that I've tried before) can help make my body be more toned. It's all gonna be through hardwork in the gym and exercise. Such a difficult truth to swallow.

So, here's my two-cents on SkinnyMint Tea.

Ohh I also took like before-and-after photo but looks same to me only so I shall just not post it here. Heh.

My Eyeliner Embroidery Story.

Some may have heard of this, some may have not.

I only found out about this 'invention' or 'process' or 'treatment' or whatever you want to call it one day when I woke up late and was rushing to work. Since I over-slept that day, so I quickly just draw my eyeliner accordingly but realized later in the office that it's obviously not the same thickness (you will know what I mean if you draw your eyeliner sometimes).

It's a double disaster for me because both my eyelids are different in its thickness, in the way it folds against my eyes (see photo below!). So, I have always been watching Youtube videos on how to draw in a way that both eyeliners will seem like its same thickness. CANNOT ONE I TELL YOU!

It's so impossible that I just try to do my best on a daily make-up basis. If it's nice, great. If not, then just suck it up. Also, I am the laziest person I know. You see on the photo below right, one side thin and another side thicker. Stress or not you tell me.

So, that leads me to do more research on how I can settle this problem. Problem because it takes a lot of time and patience to draw nicely okay. Both also I lack of so yeah.

Then, I saw the word.

Eyeliner Embroidery.

What? I obviously know of eyebrow embroidery but this? Those words definitely caught my attention! So, I read more on it and most of the articles are from overseas. Photos also all not Asian. If Asian means confirm they are photos of plastic surgeries, mostly Korean. Heh.

You can also call it Eye Define Treatment. There's so many names out there to describe this one thing okay. It all roughly means the same thing.

Do you know there's such thing as Lip Embroidery as well? Uh-huh. Crazy right.

That was a few years ago when I knew of this process. Then, I let it go because I don't know anyone who personally went through this and I'm not going to take any risk right. My eyes you know.

THEN, IT HAPPENED!

It was just a normal conversation with my cousin in my dining room at 730am. I was getting ready for work and I had just finished drawing my eyeliner. She saw what I was doing and said, "Ehh you very  good at drawing also ah. I'm never good that's why mine is permanent already!"

AGAIN, I WAS SHOCKED! I turned to her and looked at her as if she was my answer to a life crisis!

Then, she explained further and showed me her eyeliner that was done by Blaze in Penang. I got even more curious because to be honest, I really wanted to have this permanently on my eyelids because I was that lazy but scrap the idea because no one I know did it, or at least it seems no one talks about it lah!

She gave me details of the place where she went to have this done up. I googled even more the next few days, and within two weeks I made up my mind to go for it.

It says Eyeliner Embroidery so it never crosses my mind that it could be tattoo kind. Well, I think it is a tattoo because the machine that was used looks like one and also because the Director of Blaze, Tony said it is. Hmm. My cousin also said it won't hurt so much, just a little.

LIES!

Okay, I need to calm down and write this post out nicely so for those of you who wants to do will know what it's like and if it's worth it.

So, what is this thing exactly?

It's like a semi-permanent eyeliner drawn onto your eyelids along the lash-line. If not mistaken, it can last up to 4 years. I don't know what it will look like after 4 years obviously because it's still so new on my eyelids. Remind me again 4 years later and I will tell you. Hah.

When I had finally decided to do it, it was quite difficult to find the right time because Tony is a very busy man. According to my source, he also does all these beauty treatments for Datins in Singapore, hence his frequent visits to the Merlion City.

I was still looking around at other places where they offer eyebrow embroidery to see if they also have this Eye Define Treatment and I came to know about Empro.

Empro is located at Gurney Plaza but from the way the salesperson says it, it looks like Eye Define Treatment isn't their strength. They only have ONE sample photo of before and after. Errr.

And they charge like RM700++ for the Senior/Director to do for you. That is really expensive okay.

With that, I went to Blaze and make my appointment. One thing I really love about Blaze is that, no matter what kind of treatments you want to take, the Director/Founder will do it for you. He won't like send his interns (if he has) to do for you. All hands on by himself. Best.

The day finally came and I went in like a warrior and came out like a..

SWOLLEN-EYED WARRIOR. Hah.

I shall let the photos speak now.

You enter the room also you feel beautiful already.

First thing to do is to apply A LOT OF numbing cream. Put as many rounds pun takpa.

HAHAHA to those pimples on the forehead.

The numbing cream process takes about 30 minutes - give and take.

Brother cho siau with my face.

Then, Tony came in and there's no more turning back people.

It's like taking a black ink pen and drawing on my eyelids. Except this one, HURTS LIKE CRAZY.

Seriously, braces is what man? This one is a whole new definition of pain. In the beginning, I only felt like there was pressure on my eyelids and then before you know it, the numbing cream works 0% and I can feel every needle. I think it's needle lah.

This is what NO PAIN NO GAIN means.

Yes, more numbing cream please. KEEP THEM COMING.

According to Koay, my tears kept flowing out the entire time he was doing it but I didn't feel no tears or watery eyes also. That I think the numbing cream is blocking lah. Not the actual pain. Heh.

So, this is his way of telling me, "I'm here babe and it's all going to finish soon!"

That or more like, "Hah! See! Told you no need to go for this already! HAH!"

Either way, he's very supportive lah okay. Afterall, it's not like this is a plastic surgery or something.

Tony is a very detailed person and that's why he's so good at what he does. It was really painful but I didn't wanted him to rush it through because I obviously want to have a good outcome. At one point, I think he drew the line longer than the other eye and he used the 'tattoo removal laser' to remove the extra line.

It happened so fast that I didn't even have time to prepare myself to take the pain. It felt like an electric shock but not really also. No idea how to explain the pain. It lasted like few seconds only tho.

The machine.

Finishto! A bit swollen heh.

Tony noticed that I have never done anything to my eyebrow and he decided that it's time to beautify it FOR FREE. Talk about good customer service people.

Everyone, meet Tony :)

So, eyelids were little bit swollen on the same day but nothing too obvious. I went to a meeting after the treatment okay. So, no problemo.

It's the next day that the eyelids decided to kembang sikit banyak. It was quite painful to open my eyes too. So, it is recommended that you spend more time sleeping to let the swell reduce a bit.

My eyebrows now so in place! HAHAHA!

Over the next few days, I apply this cream on my eyelids that helps to reduce the swellings. One thing to take notice if you were to go through this amazing process.

Because I apply this cream 3 times a day, I tend to wipe my eyelids once in a while because it can get too oily and even when I bathe I wash my eyes carefully. So, whenever I wipe my eyes with a soft towel, I can see a bit of black skin came out with it so at first I panicked lah.

I thought the color fake one and already coming off on the second day! Turns out, there will be a layer of the tattoo color that will come out and then you will be able to see the real deal.

Scare me only okay. I thought there goes my $$$!

The swelling goes off quite fast for me. Must be because I put the cream like 6 times a day instead of 3. Kiasu.

Freedom tasted bestttttt after no more swelling!

Freedom from having to wake up earlier. Yes, extra 10 minutes to sleep is precious.

Freedom from needing to keep trying on different brands to see which one is really sweat-proof and tears-proof.
Freedom from drawing two different sizes on two different eyelids.
Freedom from people asking, "Eh why both your eyeliners bo siang size eh?"

So, now when you see me, you know that I have the perfect eyeliner on. #taktaumalu

I don't have a lot of photos that shows very obvious of the eyeliner but if you see on the photo below, I think can see a bit. Heh.

No regrets in doing this. The pain is worth it lah I guess. How often can you say that your eyeliner today looks really good wor? I can say that everytime I wake up and after getting out from the pool. No need to worry that it will smear or gone missing. Hah.

Considering that's the only thing I do when I make-up, I feel its one of my best investment so far.

It's not that expensive.

Only RM371 plus GST and one time free touch-up within a year!

Okay what!

Next time you see me, come check it out okay? For ladies out there, if you have anything you want to ask/know more on this treatment, feel free to ask me! :)

Bye now.
